Nice synonym with Data Literacy (Moneyball)
Hi all,
Just wanted to share this nice synonym I discovered when rewatching the movie Moneyball. For those who don't know the movie yet: Moneyball is about the gamechanging insight to address baseball from a statistical and analytical perspective rather than opinions from "experts/trainers" and making decisions on who to buy based on gut feeling.
In this specific scene I think it is nice to see that there is just a misunderstanding of data analytics and the approach to buy players based on data analytics and statistics, rather than that the players are young or popular.
This could have easily been a team meeting where one person brings in a dashboard and others are questioning his insights because they don't understand the data and the insight go against their gut-feeeling

Thanks for sharing, @eelcolambers! This is also a great example of the implications and importance of data in industries outside the standard tech, education, health, etc. With data, organizations across the board are better equipped to make sound decisions that will yield long-term results. Not sure if anyone else saw this article: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7095041/Data-experts-Klopps-charisma-turn-Liverpool-kings-Europe.html, but the Liverpool Football Club (owned by the same parent company as the Major League Baseball team Boston Red Sox) owe their recent 2019 UEFA Champions League win (in part 😊) to a team of data analysts, leveraging data insights to help the team gain a winning edge.
Thanks for sharing that article. Nice read! Especially for a Liverpool fan like me :)
